The Sunrise Club and Foundation, through its Community, International, Youth and Vocational Avenues of Service Committees, choose projects and organizations to support annually.

  • The International Service Committee has chosen to support two villages near Managua, Nicaragua, for a number of years by addressing needs identified by the community members themselves.  It most notably has partnered with a Rotary Club in Nicaragua to carry out a large clean water project through a matching Global Grant from The Rotary Foundation.  In addition, it has participated in projects and grants in Mexico.
  • The Community Service Committee identifies hands-on projects it wishes to accomplish in collaboration with non-profit organizations, most notably with the United Boys & Girls Club Camp Whittier, where it has carried out annual maintenance work days for many years.

The Sunrise Foundation annually allocates some funds to be set aside for domestic or international disasters, as the need arises.

Note:  the Sunrise Foundation does not generally accept unsolicited requests for donations but, instead, prefers to fund organizations with which club members have more direct involvement and volunteer opportunities.

The Club and the committees welcome inquiries about non-profit organizations’ needs and if they have volunteer opportunities that club members might fill.  Such inquiries may be directed to Luz Maria Ortiz Smith, Foundation President, at Luzmaria@smithandortiz.com or Bruce Belfiore, Club President, at brucebelfiore@benchmarkportal.com
