Medical supplies and protective equipment will assist in the fight against COVID in Nicaragua.

The Rotary Club of Santa Barbara Sunrise, through a grant from Rotary District 5240, partnered with the Rotary Club of Ciudad Sandino to provide medical supplies to help in the fight against COVID-19 in Nicaragua. Equipment, gloves, protective glasses, alcohol, soap and bleach was distributed to five health centers, one hospital and 17 municipal public services, such as schools, library, maternity home, and cultural centers. The Rotary Club of Santa Barbara Sunrise has provided support to two communities in rural Nicaragua for the past six years through a global grant for a major water distribution system, and district grants for upgrades to health care clinics and schools. In a country that is the second poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere, supplies are frequently short in stock. This assistance will greatly help an already stretched health care system.
