Grant awarded to Boy Scouts Troop 26 for scholarships.
The Community Service Committee awarded a $2,500 grant through the Rotary Club of Santa Barbara Sunrise Charitable Foundation to support the Boy Scouts Troop 26. This grant will provide scholarships on a sliding scale so more people can participate in Boy Scouts.
The program is offered to boys ages 11-17 from all backgrounds. Some families cannot afford the fees for larger annual trips, such as summer camps and trips to the High Adventure Bases. These costs may prevent Scouts from participating, especially in struggling families. The Sunrise Opportunity Unbound program offers grants to families demonstrating financial need through financial submissions. Only one grant is made per Scout per year. The program involves no expenses, operating 100% on volunteer effort.
