The Community Service Committee, hard at work on projects to serve our community!
This has been a very productive year so far for the Community Service Committee. We have also added several new members to our committee, Angel Miller-Bevan, Ron Brooks, Marjorie Woodruff, Jessica Profitt, Jann Greene, and Scott Burns, liaison with the Addiction Prevention Action Group. We are currently making plans for a Camp Whittier joint work/play day May 18th. We will be inviting other Rotary groups and Kiwanis to join us.
Current and upcoming Projects
1. Dictionary Project ($2,581) for dictionaries to every third grade student in Santa Barbara Unified schools.
2. Explore Ecology ($2,500) for updating Watershed Educational materials which serves thousands of students each year.
3. Angel Foster Care ($1,000) for four infant car seats.
4. Unity Shoppe ($3,250) for 300 helmets for children. Rotary sticker will be placed on each helmet.
5. SBIFF Film Camp ($3,500) for teen scholarships. Rotarians will be able to volunteer at this event at Camp Whittier.
6. Camp Whittier Work/Fun Day ($5,000) for improvements to the camp facility and grounds before the busy summer season.
Additionally, projects in the works are Domestic Violence Solutions security equipment for safe houses, Safety Town, and New Beginnings.
