The aquaponics program has 60 applicants on the wait list.
Our International Service Committee met in early October to review several requests for 2023-24 funding. These requests cover everything from a high-powered microscope to be used for cataract eye surgeries in Celaya Mexico to the funding of a nature reserve in Ciudad Sandino, Nicaragua. The aquaponics program, which was a huge success, has 60 applicants on the wait list so the committee is exploring ways to expand the project. President Bruce staffed a table at the Rotary District Conference in Bakersfield, promoting this and other projects. Seeking inter-club support is essential for success because many of the funding proposals are costly and will require applying for both District and Global Grants. However, to support the continuing education, the committee did approve the second year of awarding four scholarships to students in the Los Volcanes/Puerto Vallarta area. To share in the discussions and voting, all club members are invited to attend the next ISC meeting. Contact Hannah or Oscar for more details.
