Troop 26 shared their inspiring work helping prepare the next generation of community leaders.
The Rotary Club of Santa Barbara Sunrise Community Service Committee recently welcomed representatives from Friends of Troop 26, a local nonprofit organization that supports the Scouts and Scouting program of Troop 26.
Committee members learned about the organization's Sunrise Opportunity Fund, a scholarship program established to help ensure that financial barriers do not prevent youth from participating in Scouting. The fund was named in recognition of a generous $2,500 grant provided by the Rotary Club of Santa Barbara Sunrise.
It was also noted that our Club has a real bi-lateral partnership with the troop: Scouts and adults from the Troop had a booth at the last two Dolphin Derby fund-raisers, and provided valuable manpower in set-up and tear-down for the events. The troop will also assist our Club fundraising this year, including organizing a special outdoor experience to be offered at our fall auction - details forthcoming.
