Transition House received new desks and chairs for each of their 16 family sleeping rooms.

The Rotary Club of Santa Barbara Sunrise Foundation, with support from a District 5240 matching grant, provided funding for 16 desks and chairs for each family sleeping room at the Transition House emergency shelter.

The family sleeping rooms did not have desks and chairs. The need for a work station in each room was identified by Transition House staff as essential to support good education and work habits.

By offering emergency shelter, transitional and permanent housing, homelessness prevention services, and comprehensive programs for children, Transition House takes a holistic approach to ending the cycle of poverty and homelessness for Santa Barbara families. Transition House is the only organization in South Santa Barbara County that exclusively serves homeless families with children. Approximately 76 percent of families experiencing homelessness who enter our emergency shelter program succeed in transitioning to stable housing.
