President Bruce's April Message
As we go into the last quarter of the Rotary year, it does not feel like things are ending, because so many things are continuing and starting. In fact, keeping with our theme this year, Spring translates as Primavera in Italian, because it heralded the beginning of the year for the Romans.
Our committees are currently very busy with grants and activities in Santa Barbara County, Mexico and Nicaragua, many of which are detailed elsewhere in this Bulletin. The value of networking with other Rotarians and Rotary clubs has been driven home to us as we open up additional "capacity" for our projects simply by talking with Rotarians we meet and finding out who has extra funds to deploy. This also helps us achieve one of the goals of Rotary, which is to bring communities and the world together to accomplish good things.
As we look forward to our Dolphin Derby Festival on July 14th, I want to thank the organizers in our club for the huge effort they are devoting to make it a success. I also encourage everyone else to step forward to lend a hand in every phase of the event, from soliciting sponsorships to joining in to help on the day itself.
