Rotarians rolled up their sleeves to assemble 69 bicycles for local kids.
The spirit of service was in full gear this week as members of our club gathered to assemble 69 brand-new bicycles for children served by the United Boys & Girls Clubs of Santa Barbara County.
The bikes are the exciting culmination of Kirk Greene’s 2025 Bike4Kids campaign. Over the course of the year, Kirk completed an extraordinary 333 rides totaling 6,201 miles (the equivalent of cycling from Santa Barbara to Washington, D.C. and back) while raising nearly $20,000 to support local youth.

Rotary club members and other volunteers worked together to build, adjust, and prepare each bicycle for its new owner, ensuring every child will receive a safe, ready-to-ride bike at the upcoming giveaway ceremony.

The excitement continued the following day at the United Boys & Girls Clubs’ Goleta Center, where the bicycles were officially distributed to their new owners. The celebration began with remarks from the Club’s Chief Development Officer, Taylor Swan, followed by Kirk sharing what inspired him to launch Bike4Kids and how the generosity of more than 80 donors turned miles ridden into support for local youth. After the brief program, kids gathered by club location, eagerly choosing their brand-new bikes and helmets and adding colorful stickers to personalize them. Within minutes, many were riding around the grassy field testing out their wheels.

We applaud Kirk for transforming his passion for cycling into meaningful impact for local youth, and we are proud that so many of our members supported his efforts through generous contributions and hands-on help assembling the bikes. Supporting the good work of our members in the community is one of the many ways our club lives out “Service Above Self.”
