About a little girl born with only half of a heart. This is a story about a family’s battle with congenital heart defects, and how they fight against the #1 killer of infants and children.

Charlie is a 2.5-year-old girl who was born missing the left side of her heart. Living with only half of a heart hasn’t slowed this little girl down and even after 2 open heart surgeries and 6 other surgical procedure Charlie never stops smiling. Her mom Joslynn Jarrett-Skelton wrote a children series called, Charlie the Courageous, about a little girl who finds strength behind her heart scar and teaches children how to embrace each other’s differences. Charlie and Joslynn not only promote acceptance they also are advocates for the American Heart Association and their drive to eradicate heart disease and make a heathier community!
