Chapel and Mural Tour at the SB Cemetery

David Petry will lead the tour and join us for lunch. He is the author of "The Best Last Place: A History of the Santa Barbara Cemetery."
In our own backyard sits a hidden treasure the Chapel at the Santa Barbara Cemetery. Designed by famed architect George Washington Smith, who also designed Casa del Herrero, the Lobero Theatre plus many homes in Montecito and the Riviera. Within the chapel is another hidden treasure, the murals by famous Mexican painter Alfredo Ramos Martínez. Martínez is famous for his stylized depictions of farmers, Zapatistas and floral still life. He is considered by many to be the Father of Mexican Modernism. Join us as we learn more about the Chapel and Ramos Martínez. We will also have a brief presentation on the famous people who are buried at The Best Last Place.
After our tour, those who wish to join for lunch, will meet at Los Arroyos Mexican restaurant at 1280 Coast Village Road in Montecito.
