A beautiful day greeted Rotarians last Wednesday and the dedication of the club was evident by the decent attendance numbers when all would rather have been hiking, biking or lounging by the pool.  Conversation was lively and convivial and the overall mood (my perception of it at least) was wonderful.

Club business was attended to with the skill and mastery of President David Juhnke who has been noticeably more relaxed and casual in his manner.  I suspect he may show up in his pajamas and Ugg boots someday.  His amiable nature, however, did not save Tim Cleath and Jeff Buckingham from being fined for papering the tables with unauthorized flyers.  Tim joined the president’s club and Jeff… um… I think he did a Madonna impersonation.

President David Juhnke had the honor of welcoming a new member to the club. Even without her sponsor (Jim Eaton), Anne Rhodes was pinned (thank you Jeff Priolo) and applauded.  Welcome and please get involved with the demotion party committee.

“Oil’s well that ends well,” could have been the title of the guest speaker’s presentation. Could have been.  We learned much about private company oil producers and amount of barrels being produced around the country and world. He must have studied at the “Ron Regier School of Toast Masters Get to the Point” because he ran out of time. The problem with presenting to our club about the petroleum industry is that none of us use any.  Did he not notice the 80 bicycles parked outside, our hemp made clothes and portable compost containers?  Too bad Kevin didn’t show up in his tight bike pants.
