THE OBJECT OF ROTARY

The object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

• The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
• High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying by each Rotarian of her/his occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
• The application of the ideal of service by every Rotarian to her/his personal, business, and community life;
• The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal for service.

BRIEF HISTORY

The Rotary Club of Dundas celebrates 75 years of Rotary in Dundas on June 13, 2023.

Rotary is an international service organization begun in Chicago in 1905. The object of Rotary is collaboration among business and professional persons with the variety of perspectives held in different business climates, to uphold high business practices, and to be of service to our communities local and international. One of Rotary’s dramatic projects on the world scale has been the eradication of polio leaving, currently, only a handful of polio cases in difficult geo-political regions of Afghanistan and Pakistan. 

The Rotary Club of Dundas was formed by some 20 motivated Dundas businessmen in the spring of 1948. We have birthed three daughter clubs in Waterdown, Ancaster, and Dundas Sunrise, as well as the Dundas Probus Club.
