On a beautiful Wednesday evening the last Rotary Summer Band Concert was held. The season began on July 3rd at the Libbey Bowl Independence Day Concert which was a rousing success and continued through August 15th to a grateful and appreciative crowd.
Laura Denne and her 37 member band truly outshone themselves with a wonderful season of show tunes, pop medleys and traditional marching band music. The ages of the members ranged from 84 to 14. Kudos to Laura and husband Bob who work each year to plan and organize and then perform this local community project which is supported by the Rotary Club of Ojai West.
And many thanks to the members who help set up, sell balloons, lemonade and popcorn and clean up afterwards. Thanks to Prez Linda Taylor we gathered a bit early, had pizza and salad then got to work. We were very grateful to have the help of the Boy Scouts this year who helped with each Wednesday's set up and tear down.
