President's Message
Dear Fellow Rotarians,

October is perhaps my favorite month, as it signals the arrival of autumn. As a Rotarian, we are also aware that October 24 is World Polio Day. In observance, we welcome John Dillgen, a Polio survivor and Rotarian, at next Tuesday's meeting, who will provide an update on our international organization's work to defeat the disease.

Our club will also be joining clubs around the world to raise funds in the Polio Plus campaign. In coming weeks, I'll be emailing links for you to consider making a tax-deductible donation of any amount. Ideally, it would be great to have 100% participation (again, at any amount).

Thanks for all your support and involvement. Hope to see you Tuesday.

Yours in Service,

Tony

Welcome Marcy Wimbish!

Marcy is the newest member of our Rotary club (thanks to an introduction by sponsor Jennifer Goddard).  Read the interview below to learn more about Marcy, and be sure to introduce yourself in person at the next meeting.

Please tell the Club a little bit about your life: where you were born and grew up, how you met your spouse, about your children, and what you enjoy doing as a family when you're not working.

I was born in New York and was raised in a suburb of New York City, in New Jersey.  I moved to New York City after completing college and attended graduate school at Columbia University (MS) and then NYU (MBA).  I worked on Wall Street trading and selling US Treasury Bonds to mostly Central Banks for about 20 years.

I met my husband in New York, and we were married in 1998.  We continued living together in New York City and had 2 children, Natalie (1999) and Jimmy (2001). I retired shortly after 9/11 to spend more time with my children.  I spent the next 20 years caring for my children and volunteering countless hours around their activities.

We moved to California in 2007 when my husband was offered a job in Santa Barbara and have lived here since.  Our children have both completed college and are living in California  (one in LA and one in San Francisco). We also have 2 dogs who are central to our lives.  We spend a lot of time hiking with the dogs, and also love to travel.  Our most recent trips have taken us to New Zealand and Australia, and before that on an African Safari.

Please tell us about your work - what you do, how long you've been doing it, and what you find interesting and satisfying about it.

I came back to the working world about a year ago when I joined Cornerstone Home Lending as a Mortgage Loan officer.  I love that I can use my fixed income market knowledge to help people find the best borrowing scenarios.  I work with a very experienced team and I have learned a lot since starting.

Please share a couple of other things about yourself that you think we would find interesting and may not know about you.

I am currently the president of Congregation B’nai B’rith, the Jewish synagogue in town.  This also takes up a lot of my time.  I love to play tennis, run and participate in all fitness activities.
