Randy Rowse came to Santa Barbara in 1972 to attend UCSB as an Environmental Studies major, and never left.
As owner/operator of the Paradise Café he was active in community organizations such as the Chamber of Commerce, The Downtown Organization, Hospitality Santa Barbara and the Council on Alcohol and Drug Abuse.
Randy served as a City Councilmember from 2010-2019, and was sworn in as the 51st Mayor of Santa Barbara on January 11, 2022.
He and his wife Janet live in the same house on the Mesa where they’ve spent the past 36 years and raised two children. Throughout all these years, his passion for the vibrancy of our downtown and the natural elements of our beautiful city has not diminished.
The mayor will be meeting us at a new location for our meeting this Tuesday. September 17th.
Join us promptly at noon at Shelterbox headquarters:

District 5240 PeaceBuilder Relay
In the spirit of fostering peace and unity, PeaceBuilding through Rotary Service introduces the concept of "baton passing" as a metaphorical and practical tool for community building.
This initiative symbolizes the seamless transfer of responsibility, knowledge, and enthusiasm from one individual to another, creating a continuous flow of energy and commitment within the Rotary Club and the broader community.
Celebrate World Peace Day by participating in our District's

to celebrate peace, fun,
and fellowship.
I, for one, am very grateful to live on the American Riviera, where our temperatures are generally comfortable year-round. When we experience those rare, nearly 100-degree days, it makes me appreciate our "normal" even more. That being said, I’m so happy that cooler weather has returned.
Next week, we are honored to have Mayor Randy Rowse address our club. Please note that we will be meeting at ShelterBox USA, and the meeting structure will be reversed. The Mayor will begin speaking promptly at noon, so please arrive early. We will enjoy lunch and fellowship on the ocean-view patio following his presentation.
In celebration of World Peace Day on September 21st, our District's "PeaceBuilder Relay Culmination" event will take place this Saturday in the Funk Zone. Rotarians from central and Southern California will gather in our city, making it a local event for us. Click here to see the flyer with complete details.
I look forward to seeing you at next week’s meeting!
Rotary is committing US$500,000 to bolster the initiative, channeling these funds through a dedicated Polio Outbreak Response Fund. This contribution represents Rotary's sustained support to the World Health Organization in combating polio globally.
