Michael Shaffran, LCSW (and new member of the Morro Bay Club) shared his experiences a licensed therapist. Michael told us that he works with couples, families with a concentration on boys and men. He works primary with boys and men because he feels they need a male therapist and the mentorship.
Michael stated that the mentorship between father and sons is lacking, a mother's guidance is wonderful but boys need a father or father figure in their lives. Girls need their fathers but for boys it's a different type of bonding learning how to be a man.
Michael works with several different organizations including the 'Mankind Project' and 'Boys to Men'.

Michael also touched on "Solution Grief Therapy" which is getting the facts, judgment & criticisms regarding the facts, solution and conclusion and sometimes spiritual growth from the process. He suggests focusing on positive changes, the present and, asking yourself where you want to put your energy.
