Keith told us that he is one of three pharmacist selected to distribute Potassium Iodide (KI) anti-radiation tablets provided by PG&E.

Potassuim Iodide is much more
familiar to most than you might first expect. It is the ingredient added to your table salt to make it iodized salt. The FDA maintains that KI is a safe and effective means by which to prevent radioiodine uptake by the thyroid gland, under certain specified conditions of use, and thereby obviate the risk of thyroid cancer in the event of a radiation emergency.
Keith also spoke about his role as Chairman of the International committee; he has plans for a long term project (5 years) in Rwanda. It will have the three main components required by RI, with an emphasis on improving health, alleviating hunger and enhancing human and social development. We need members who are want to have a hands-on experience with International projects to attend the monthly Region 10 or 11 International Committee meetings. These early morning meetings will cover grant writing, good information and discuss projects needing help.
Region 11 meets the 'first' Monday of the month at 7:30 am at the Cowgirl Cafe in Atascadero. Region 10 meets the 'second' Monday of the month at Big Sky at 7:30 am. You are welcome to attend the meeting of your choice. If you are interested in being part of this 'Avenue of Service', contact Keith.
