What is the Rotary International Foundation?
The RI Foundation is divided into two components the 'World Fund' and 'Share'. Under the 'World Fund' umbrella is 'PolioPlus', the Children's Fund, and the Rotary Centers for International Studies.

PolioPlus, is Rotary's major fund-raiser to eradicate polio in the world with a concentration on Pakistan, Afghanistan, India and Nigeria. This year our Club fund-raising campaign will be 'Pennies for Polio'. We will inform the community that Polio still exists in the world, with the Oscar-nominated documentary, "The Final Inch', presentations by our own past-president and NID volunteer Michelle and with polio hand-outs.
The Rotary Centers for International Studies and Children's Fund focuses on the funding initiatives around the world to help foster world understanding and peace through education. Peace Fellowships fund either master's degree or professional development certificate study at one of the seven Rotary Centers for International Studies in peace and conflict resolution at eight universities worldwide.
Rotary International Foundation's endowment is the Permanent Fund. The Permanent Fund builds long-term stability for the future. You can become a "Benefactor" of the Rotary Foundation by making a 'promise' naming the Foundation's Permanent Fund as a beneficiary of a $1,000.00 or more. To become a member of the Rotary Foundation 'Bequest Society', you will make provisions (a promise) in your estate planning to bequeath $10,000 or more.
'Share' is the District Designated Funds and World Fund. Foundation program awards are distributed worldwide through the SHARE system. Contributions to The Rotary Foundation are transformed into Ambassadorial Scholarships, Group Study Exchanges, and 'Matching Grants'. Our Club was able to accomplish our International projects to Uganda and Rwanda through the Matching Grant programs.
At the end of every Rotary year, 50 percent of each district's donations to the 'Annual Programs Fund' are credited to their District Designated Fund (DDF); the other 50 percent is credited to the World Fund.
The Foundation uses the World Fund to pay for the worldwide programs available to all Rotary districts, regardless of their specific contributions. Districts use their DDF to fund the Foundation programs they participate in.
Annual Program Fund is Rotary's 'Every Rotarian Every Year' campaign everyone to contribute a minimum of $100.00 every year. Our Club has promise to give $125.00 per member this year. We have an on-going campaign to save .68 cents a day or $5.00 a week due March 19, 2010. You can give our treasurer a weekly or monthly check designated for APF (Annual Program Fund).
