Brenda's Demotion Dinner
The Grover Beach Rotary showed it's appreciation for President Brenda Cavanaugh at Steamers on June 25th. It was an amazing evening with Brad Evans standing in for Johnny Carson. The background music, audience direction, and commercial breaks were all orchestrated by Sandy Nichols, Lisa Evans and Scott Nichols. Brad's questions to Brenda were pointed and Brenda had to defer to her husband Randy to help with the answers.
Mike Balster attempted to demonstrate some of the Top Secret work Brenda may have performed on her ranch. A prototype helicopter, glider, and a rocket were all part of the demonstration. Brenda liked the helicopter but frowned at the glider because of obviously misadjusted ailerons. The rocket was to employ both solid and liquid fuel, but Brenda shook her head and said, "That both liquid and solid fuel is so old school."
Five Paul Harris Fellows were awarded one being a total surprise. Richard Roberts awarded a Paul Harris Fellow in the name of his wife of 54 years, Carol Roberts.
