After sharing a number of interesting, but useless statistics about Thanksgiving, President Evans recited a wonderful poem about being thankful.  We love you, Lisa!

I want and need to give thanks right now for the time is good..it's so right,

And then maybe after Thursday I can sleep through an entire night.

So, you see, I am so grateful for my family tried and true,

I am grateful for the land I live in and salute red, white and blue

I'm grateful for my job, my home and my life,

I'm grateful I have a husband to live with and not a nagging wife.

I'm grateful I was asked to join Rotary, I am so proud of the blue and gold,

I'm grateful that you all are here even though this poem's getting old.

I'm grateful to be here right now instead of defrosting my frozen turkey,

I'm grateful for the running around I'll do today or would I rather be working?

I'm grateful for my clean carpets at home even though they are still wet;

I'm grateful I'm not worried about cooking dinner for 15 people tomorrow on that you can bet;

I'm grateful to be involved in something bigger than myself,

Believe you me though in day or two the muffin top will be a shelf.

But seriously, I'm grateful for what Rotarians do each day

Whether it be fellowship, education, work or play.

We're a part of something huge, not just local but abroad,

And by following the four way test, it's never a façade.

This organization is awesome; GroverBeach is just the best,

Just ask the boys and girls club, with new jackets they attest;

And AmpSurf with some extra funds and a great annual event underway,

Grover Beach Library, Wounded Warriors, Grover Beach Police, and a cataract trip, hip hooray!

So yes, I am so grateful for my involvement with all of you,

For it's together that we achieve so much and have fun doing it too.

So it's here and now I tell you as this poem comes to a close

That we all have things to be grateful for; just think, you could have a big nose.

I'm grateful for this year thus far; I've learned so much, it's true,

I know you think I'm brilliant but I shoot from the hip sometimes too;

But seriously when someone asks about Rotary, I will sing our praises like a lark,

And next time I will keep my big mouth shut when the calendar says we're dark.
