Fritz Meir the director for Gleanings for the Hungry was our speaker on August 23.  Fritz explained how they can make a bowl of nutritious soup for as little as 1 cent  and a crew of all volunteer labor.  In fact they have a 2 year waiting list of people that want to come work.  They even pay $100 a week to work!  Peach season just finished though they process more that peaches.  Also includes all pit fruit grown around the valley.  Youth from churches as far away as Canada come to work in the peach plant.  (Need youth because of the hot area temps.) The fruit is what can't be sold in markets due to imperfections.
