Our Guest Speaker was none other than "QL+" Business Director Mike Gorbell, introduced by President Miss Lisa.  He is a former Rotarian from the Santa Maria Breakfast Club, who is looking for a new club (hint, hint).

Quality of Life Plus (QL+) is a business concept of engineering an improved quality of life for those who have served in our nation's armed forces.  Its purpose is to change the lives of those who have defended our freedom and need assistance.  The members watched a three-minute video about the company.  It is technology to improve the quality of life for those who have been injured in the line of duty.  The company identified specific challenges faced by the disabled community and built a research lab at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo to the tune of one million dollars.  Engineering students have to complete a working project in order to graduate with an engineering degree and have flocked to this lab.  CIA disguise artists have joined the team as instructors.  Current projects are artificial skin, ERB prosthetic hands, breathable facial prosthetics, the Yosemite project, and adaptive wheel chairs.  People can help with the lab and all the many projects by donating money or equipment, getting the word out, send the lab challenges and join the many teams on-line at www.QLPLUS.org or by phoning Mr. Gorbell at 805/878-2845.  The Challenged Athletes Foundation also works with this lab.
