Narlene Carter-Keenan and Sandy Nichols recently participated in a 26.2 mile Rock & Roll Marathon in San Diego. They said they just ran, ran, ran, ran and then ran some more to complete the event. They enjoyed the experience that started at 6:30 am at the ExpositionCenter with over 23,000 racers. The event featured a rock & roll concert where 27 bands performed. Some runners were dressed as Elvis which was difficult as it impeded their running ability and the costumes looked very hot.

They said it was well organized and the free glass of beer at the end of the race was welcomed. Narlene said she enjoyed the train trip from GroverBeach to San Diego to attend the race. Sandy said part of the course was on the San Diego freeway; and, it was disconcerting being surrounded by cars whizzing around them. Sandy's time: 4 hours, 38 minutes; Narlene's time: 5 hours, 39 minutes. We are proud of their courageous effort. A job well done!
