Guest Speaker Marvin Jackmon
Marvin Jackmon of Southern California Gas gave us an update on the pipeline work being done throughout San Luis Obispo county. His job is to advise cities, businesses and residents about the work that is happening. He is also told us that SOCAGAS is looking to sponsor community activities in our community. The pipeline work that's being worked on is Price St in Pismo, which is Phrase 1. Phrase 2 will be under the rail road and Phrase 3 is James Way ending at the Hilton Garden Hill at 4th and James. The safety of customer, employees and communities are there top priority. Additional areas where pipe will be replaced is Halcyon Rd from 101 to Hwy 1 to Valley Rd in Arroyo Grande and in September Valley Rd from Fair Oaks to Los Berros. Two weeks prior to construction letters will be mailed to customers near the construction area, followed by door hangers going out 2 days before construction. mobilization.SoCalGas' plan is expected to generate more than $1.9 billion in economic activity based on direct and indirect and supporting services. Governments (State & Local) should see a $9 million boost in tax benefits from the Pipeline activitites along with more than 1,800 jobs. SlCalGas has committed that 35% of its spending be invested in diverse businesses, and it's on track to meet this goal.
