Good Shepherd Sisters

In a remote corner of NE Thailand, Good Shepherd Sisters established a school and work place for people and children affected by AIDS. The villages find children being raised by their grandparents, single parents with AIDS, or adopted into other families that have also been affected by AIDS. The Sisters have 75 children going to their school and have set up work and training opportunities where families are trained to make enough money to care for themselves and their children. If this didn't happen, many families would be forced to sell their children to the sex trade in Bangkok. Unscrupulous men offer money to the families to take their children to Bangkok. Often, these children end up in the sex trade in Bangkok or neighboring large cities. If these children or young adults return they are infected with AIDS.

The Good Shepherd Sisters solicit funds to send the children to proper schools, provide needed medicines for the sick, and inspire an atmosphere of hope. Since 1982 the program has been evolving and has grown to help over 800 people.
