Marc Garcia, R.N. is one of four owners of Central Coast Home Heath, Inc. Marc began his presentation with the realization that all of us, at some time, will probably help or take care of our parents. Central Coast Home Health is a skilled nursing agency. What they are prepared to do is occupational therapy, physical therapy, wound care, and give instructions to care givers. CCHH also provides speech therapy, has access to a nutritionist, and a medical social worker on staff to work with the nurses.
CCHH's services are funded through Medi-Cal and is a physician-driven service meaning they need a doctor's prescription in order to begin service to a client. After referral, CCHH will follow the physician's plan of care. They work together to provide the services that are needed. CCHH makes it clear that they, along with the prescribing physician, are a team.
Their territory stretches from Lompoc to Santa Margarita. CCHH has been in business for a year and their caseload has grown from 'zero' to two hundred clients. Marc refers to the four owners as the 'owning drones' as they do the work and they see the families. If you call CCHH you will see Marc.
Hospitals are sending people home faster and they still need medical care. CCHH fills in that gap when the patient goes home. CCHH has a medical social worker on staff to work with the nurses. Some clients are with IHSS (In Home Support Services) so it is important to have a medical social worker on staff that is familiar with IHSS and all the paperwork.
What factor makes them different from other home care service providers: If a client needs grab bars CCHH will help get them installed. They will help you get ready to get into a vehicle for a physician's appointment. They cannot drive you to the appointment but they will meet you there and stay with you while you speak to your physician
