Board approves new grant funding!

On November 13th, the board approved $500 to support a global grant written by the Rotary Club of Moorpark.  The club funds will be part of a large $140,000 Global Grant supported by the Rotary Foundation, several clubs in our District 5240, clubs in District 3291 (Calcutta, India), clubs in Singapore, and a club in the U.S. district 5330. 

The grant focuses on serving the needs of Polio Survivors in the Calcutta area.  While Polio is no longer an active threat in India, thanks to the work of Rotary and the World Health Organization, there are still hundreds of survivors in need of health care and other services.  This grant allocates funds for five areas of need:  1)  Surgeries for those whose ailments can be corrected beneficially through surgery.  2)  Provide braces/Calipers for those in need.  3)  Wheelchairs for those who are unable to walk.  4)  Vocational and Literacy training.  5)  Provide work placement and education so that survivors can sustain themselves.  The Rotary Club of Grover Beach-Five cities is proud to take part in this project that will greatly improve the quality of life for those we are able to help!
