Anita Shower - Bio
Posted by Anita Shower
I was born in Detroit, Michigan and raised in Miami, Florida. While attending college my shorthand teacher told me I'd never make it in the business world so I left school and settled in Washington, D.C. where I worked for the Joint Commission on Correctional Manpower and Training and then a Court Management Study and finally as a bookkeeper for the largest patent law firm in the United States.
After returning to Miami I did a little traveling and on a trip to Hong Kong in 1974, I met Manferd Jennings Shower, who lived in Grover City, California. Manferd and I married in 1975 in the front yard of the home I still occupy. I do community service, attend Eastern Oregon State University (on-line) to complete my B.S. in Business Administration with a minor in Central American studies, work at the Housing Authority of the City of San Luis Obispo (am in my 20th year of employment), tend to my dogs (Suzie Cream Cheese and Princess-LuLu) and cats (a few), write a newspaper column on manners, do radio shows with Dave Congalton on KVEC 920 AM radio, appear in etiquette segments on Channel 2 with Rick Martel, do a monthly radio broadcast with an all-sports radio station in New York, and teach manners at the Grover Beach Parks & Recreation Department, and when I have time work in my beautiful garden. I believe in community service, love Grover Beach, and am proud to be a member of the Great Rotary Club of Grover Beach.
