Saturday, September 27th - The life of Rotarian and Thrice-Past-President of the Rotary Club of China Lake was celebrated at the home of Ron Kicinski and Sharon Girod (known in Rotary to some as the She Devil).

Steve ‘Boom Boom’ Boster joined the Rotary Club of China Lake on the first of November in 1995.  He served as President of our Club three times: in 2004-2005, then again from 2014-2015, and finally from 2022-2023.  He distinguished himself at the District 5240 level in the role of Assistant Governor for Group 1 from 2007-2008.  He became a Paul Harris Fellow in 2014-2015, and was active on the Rotary Club of China Lake Charitable Foundation, which provides scholarships for local students, serving as Foundation Board President in 2023-2025.  He was an Editor of our newsletter The Desert Spoke, and finally, Steve was Rotarian of the Year for 2014-2015.

From Steve’s farewell Presidential Column of June 28, 2023 in The Desert Spoke:

“…It has often been said that a Rotarian's year as a club president is the best year
they'll ever have in Rotary. But, what if you serve 3 years, widely spaced apart?
My first year was, in point of fact, the best year of a Rotary life that started in 1994. The second year was more challenging, but still very rewarding because of how the club responded and got things done.

This past year was very different. We were coming out from all the pandemic
challenges and obstacles and with a much smaller club than before COVID.
HOWEVER, I believe we came out from the pandemic a stronger club.

We are growing (slowly) we have programs that are interesting and engaging
and our new members want to jump right in to get things done.

It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as president once again. And one
final time I want to thank the board and the members for their support and their
willingness to work on projects to better our club, our community and our world!”

Farewell Steve.  Thank you for your friendship and your Service Above Self.
