After a brief introduction by Councilman, and Rotarian, Solomon Rajaratnam, Julia Morse, the Peace Builder Chair for the Rotary Club of China Lake, gave a brief presentation on the Peace Builder Relay, a District 5240 initiative to foster “unity, peace, and collaboration amongst the clubs in our district and their communities.”  Julia went on to say, “the baton symbolizes “the shared responsibility, vision, and values that bind our members and communities together.”  She concluded her address with “It takes all of us to bring peace, and it starts with us.”

At the end of the speech, Mayor Bruen and the members of the Council signed the baton, which will be passed to the next Rotary Club in our District Region.

Congratulations to Julia on a job well done, and thank you to all ten Rotarians who attended the event!

There are three such batons making their way throughout District 5240, being passed from one Club to the next.  They will be gathered together again on September 21st, 2024, at Validation Ale in Santa Barbara, California.  For more information visit: https://rotary5240.app.box.com/s/kvuy9tseiic9hdqstr59oruh2mui8gah
