The Parade of 1000 Flags is Saturday, September 5, 2015. U.S. House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy will be presiding as the grand marshal and keynote speaker once the flags arrive at Freedom Park behind City Hall.

According to the News Review "as a special tribute this year, the Patriot Guard Riders will bring the “Remembering Our Fallen” traveling memorial wall to Ridgecrest. The wall will arrive on Aug. 31 and will be displayed for two weeks to honor the men and women who have given their lives in military service since Sept. 11, 2001." The memorial is on display now until September 12 in the halls and lobby of the Kerr McGee Center.

The parade starts at the South end of China Lake Blvd.  The parade proceeds North to City Hall's Freedom Park. There will be a ceremony at the Gazebo following the parade.

In the past, the China Lake and IWV clubs has walked in this annual community event as a Community Service projects.  Club members are asked to wear their light blue Rotary shirt, if they don't have the Rotary shirt, please wear another Rotary shirt or a light blue polo or t-shirt to show Rotary unity.

If you want to walk in the parade, meet Bill Brown at 8:15 am Saturday morning in the Sierra Lanes parking lot.  Be sure to bring a bottle of water or two because it will be a sunny morning.  Sunscreen, a hat and your Rotary pin are also suggested.
