I think the Duke might have had a little too much at the trough for Wednesday's meeting, because he made up a whole new member. Sandy Brown, she's the latest and greatest West Rotarian. The Speaker was BC Basketball coach Greg McCall whose kids are more talented than a pack of circus ferrets on espresso.
I don't know who spiked the Duke's juice, but the best part of his presidency so far has to be the creation of fictitious member, Sandy Brown. I know we want new members, but it takes a certain type of low to creating whole new people out of thin air. So in the spirit of the Duke's flub, I give you Sandy Brown...
Maybe now the Duke can have Sandy Brown deliver a prayer for us.
After the mishap, the Duke barreled through his meeting, probably trying to hide his shame and forgot to ask for all his gifts, and there were a lot!
- Des teased us with a bikini comment, but only showed us stickers
- Michael Moore brought some miracle soap he paid 100 dollars for, which dollars he wouldn't say
- Ben went on a 100 mile relay for which he ran 12 miles and his wife ran the rest, but Tim got a shirt
- And, Cindy brought the goods, some happy juice
Scott Barnett, who actually showed up to a meeting and on time even, then decided to interrupt the whole affair to tell us his son got married, and somehow he didn't get fined for that? Maybe it was because Paul was absent and no one was there to collect, Italian style.
The Speaker d'Jour was Coach Greg McCall who also brought with him Hall of Famer Coach Hudson to talk about the BC Basketball team. Here's the highlight reel:
- Bakersfield's kids have to be scrappy
- But, local opportunities go to local kids, only one out-of-towner and he's a Fresno kid, so we'll let that slide
- Academics are up, 3.0 or better
- Coach McCall is dedicated to getting these kids to 4-year institutions
- All BC Basketball Games are Free, GOOOOOOOO GADES!
- Barry asked a tough question about yo-yos and tops... not sure he understands how basketball is played. Luckily, Coach Greg pivoted, and bellied up to the free throw line with an answer about being supported by the BC administration.
It was a great meeting, I'm looking forward to hearing and seeing more of Sandy Brown, West Rotarian At Large.
