A special video peek into the lives of Don and Izetta Camp. Don was our longest standing Rotarian of 64 years. He and his lovely wife Izetta passed away earlier in November, just 4 days apart.

Glenn Ephrom from the Kern County Gleaner provided us with an update on their operations. The Gleaners has been in operation for 35 years. The need for their services only continues to grow. The staff 150 volunteer shifts/week. The feed their volunteers lunch each day.
Staff/Volunteers start to arrive around 6:30 am. They sort and stock shelves and get ready for the day. The doors open at 8:00 am and they close at 2:00 pm. They give away one basket / week / household. Supply and demand are not always in sync. He is very thankful for the community and businesses that donate to the food bank. They have three major fundraisers and food drives. The oil companies have a friendly contest in the summer called “Oil Can Do It”, County employees do a drive in the first quarter called “KC Cares” and then their fundraiser which will be held on February 27, 2020 called Rhythm and Roots, at the Crystal Palace. John Pemberton is the featured artist.

Glenn Ephrom took one look at the Bako 717 sweatshirt and started rambling off all kinds of correlations; his sister's birthday is 7/17, his dog's name is Bako, stuff like that. Uncanny.
