Dreams do come true.
When I was young, so the story goes, little girls wanted dolls and little boys wanted a truck, a big red firetruck. Rotary insures that dreams do come true, and this year, a very lucky village, will see their wish come true.
For some, finding that perfect gift is easy. They remember you once mentioned that you really liked something and voila, done deal. For the rest of us, we rack our brains trying to determine that unique gift for each person. We start our lists, make corrections, deletions, additions and when we think it’s done, the work begins. This year, even more daunting with COVID lurking its ugly presence along the entire supply chain. News channels broadcasting that certain products will be in short supply or unattainable, viewers need to get out there early and finish shopping before the turkey hits the table this Thanksgiving.

They will be receiving a fire truck, not an ordinary fire truck but a rescue truck. And that’s not all, it comes with the jaws of life; 150 air packs, bottles and masks; 200 turnout pants and jackets; 190 pairs of firefighting boots; 100 firefighting helmets and gloves; 1 hurst power plant with cutter spreader ram (extrication tool); 200 uniforms, 1000 feet of fire hose in varying sizes; and 100 sets of wild land gear medical equipment.
What does this mean for this very special village? Now they have uniforms that product their volunteer firefighters. They have equipment to be able to saves homes and businesses from a total loss. They will be able to save lives of little girls and little boys, their parents and family members too. What does this mean for this very special village? It means that people do care, they care about saving every precious life, all lives are important.
