Sultan Loses Valuble Community Advocate

Our condolences to fellow Rotarians in Monroe who lost member Dave Wood September 22nd to cancer. He was the Director of the Volunteers of America program in Sultan. But, he was a tireless advocate for all residents of the Sultan area. A Monroe Rotarian at the regular weekly meeting this week commented that "Even though Dave was recently ordained as a minister, he has been ministering all of his life."

For a complete story about Dave click this link to the Monroe Monitor article published in last week's edition. Dave left his impact on Sultan through his work at the VOA, the Boys and Girls Club, Sultan Senior Center, Sultan Food Bank, Teen Court, ECEAP programs, Christmas Giving Tree, the list goes on. Another Rotarian commented that "If everyone were like Dave Wood the world would be a better place."

Dave had recently accepted a new role with the VOA on a regional basis. A send off celebration that was already planned for was held for him the day before he passed away. He was not able to attend, but, thanks to the efforts of Rotarians, they videotaped the celebration and showed it to Dave. They said he was very happy to see the outpouring of love for the community.

Sultan, Monroe and the Skykomish Valley are better off because of you Dave. You will be missed.
