Our theme this month is about business. The January 10th program was all about SCORE (Senior COre of Retired business Execuitives) a program for small businesses administered through the Small Business Administration. Whether starting a new business, putting together a business plan or financing your business, SCORE workshops are organized and presented by experienced business owners and executives who have deep expertise in various fields. All SCORE volunteer workshop leaders are committed to helping you make your venture successful.
 

SCORE is in its 50th year and has over 80 volunteers helping the Greater Seattle Chapter provide and participate in mentoring, assisting with workshops/seminars and having the resources to help individuals learn how to run your own successful business. Throughout the United States there are over 11,000 SCORE volunteers giving consult, advice and help to run a successful venture. The SBA Office is located 4th and Battery in downtown Seattle and all workshops are held at their offices. One-on-one consulting with a specialist to help small business ventures. There are seminars the first Wednesday of the month and their webinars are listed on www.seattle.score.org. About 30% of their funding comes from the Federal Government through the Small Business Administration and 40% is raised through the seminars.

Our speaker, Jerry Freeman grew up in the Buckeye State and graduated from Ohio State University. Her background is in manufacturing because she was the Executive Vice President of a furniture manufacturer in Orange County for seventeen years. She has lived in Edmonds for fourteen years. Her role at SCORE is organizing workshops. She has been a SCORE counselor for eight years primarily in the Edmonds, Lynnwood and Everett areas.  Thanks again for another wonderful, educational program for our members.
