Last week the meeting was devoted to a Club Assembly. Most of the discussion centered on the Wine and Beer Tasting Fundraiser which is on April 11th. Other topics was the PETS (President Elect Training Seminar) which is just around the corner for Gary O'Rielly and he talked about the need to complete a Planning Guide for Effective Rotary Clubs prior to the start of PETS on February 14th. And, the Club discussed the District Grant Seminar scheduled for Saturday, February 1st in Mt. Vernon and the District Membership Seminar in Burlington, on Saturday, February 8th.
 

Wine and Beer Tasting fundraiser.  We need all members to have their auction items committed by March 14th. Everyone is encouraged to think about a theme name for the fundraiser. Tickets will be available soon so that we can begin our early sales campaign. Buckle up and come on-board for a fun time and a big fundraising event.

PETS (President Elect Training Seminar) - The Planning Guide is underway and should be finished in time for early submission. As part of the PETS program each President Elect is suppose to submit his/her plan in advance of the conference. There will be over 550 Presidents-elect attending this week-end conference from nine Rotary Districts in the Northwest area of North America and eastern Russia. The large area includes Alaska, Oregon, Washington, parts of Idaho and California, the Canadian province of British Columbia and the Yukon Territory.

District Grant Seminar - Each President-Elect is required to attend the District Grant seminar with another member of the club in order to be eligible for a District or RI grant. The seminar  was held on Saturday, February 1st in Mt. Vernon. Gary O'Rielly and Loren Hole attended the seminar which qualifies us for grants this year. More will be discussed when they report back to the club in the very near future.

District Membership Seminar - The District Membership Seminar is this coming Saturday, February 8th in Burlington. Gary O'Rielly will be attending this seminar. The workshop will focus on Member Retention. We will be introducing a Member Engagement Survey that the district will be providing to clubs. DG Denis will also be giving the workshop a preview of the coming Vocational Roster. More to follow.

Scholarships - Terri Spencer, Chair of the Vocational Committee announced that James Monroe will be heading up the Scholarship Committee this year. She took down the names of several members who are interested in helping out this year either as submission evaluators or panelists or both. Terri will be sending our submission form to the high school this week. The Board decided not to include Granite Falls High School this year due to the limited amount of funds. The group will be hearing from James about mid-Spring to begin the evaluation process.
