Classification Talks

Two weeks ago, we had Classification talks by three of our newest members. Classification talks are always away of getting to know our members and more about their background, their families and current jobs.
Gina Anderson remembered her and her husband's time in Peace Corp. The start of a cultural exchange begins with your arm and "what you are connected too, your hand reaching out and the other hand coming out. The teacher in her, asked us to partner up with whoever was next to us. She developed two groups. The A's and B's. The A group was asked about the image of "what you are grounded too" and the B group was task with "what you are willing to give Up." I probably have done her presentation an injustice but hope I captured the essence of her time in the Peace Corp. Married to Jason and two children. All three were involved in the last Community Supper.
Chris Vallo was born in Ohio and moved in the third grade to the northwest. Chris has been in Lake Stevens for more than 30 years. He has worked for General Telephone and at one point was a Supervisor in Redmond in charge of service to the University of Washington. Chris has worked at Snohomish County Health, talking people through a crisis. You had to log everything and eventually it just became to stressful. Chris has been involved in Scouting and coaching his kids in sports. Chris was involved in the merging of GTE systems between the Northwest and California. He was responsible for contract administration and supply chain. He accompanied 65 young kids to Washington D. C. for Scouting before 9-11. He has three kids. He retired from Verizon and is involved in real estate. Chris is married and has three grown children. Two boys and a girl. His wife is a senior scheduler for an airline. He and one of his sons were involved and participated in the Community Supper.
Jennifer Coyle was the last of our Classification presenters. Jennifer and her husband were raised in Portland. She met her husband Allan in Middle School. When Allan was transferred from Providence in Portland to Everett, Jennifer continued working for the Providence Foundation in Portland remotely from home for 1 1/2 years. She was promoted to Providence General Foundation, Everett as the Director of the Annual Giving Program. Jennifer has been with Providence for 19 years. She joined the Providence Foundation in 2007. At the time Phil and Penny Knight of Nike fame gave Providence the largest grant ever with a $25 million dollar gift. Jennifer finds the mission of Providence and Rotary to be very similar. Jennifer, Allan and her son Quinn helped at the Community Supper. In fact, her son Quinn teamed with Gina's son Clark & were just awesome workers. Clark is 9 and Quinn is 6. They became great buddies at the Community Supper event. Thanks so much for all that you do for Rotary.
