Sunday was our Annual Celebration and Officers Installation Banquet so we didn't have a regular meeting. Thank you President Gary and your team for a great 2014-2015 Rotary Year. We also thank President Bill and his team for stepping up to guide us for the new Rotary Year. Congratulations to Jim Haugen on his selection as Rotarian of the Year. See separate article about that. The Banquet was a wonderful affair. Good food provided by our own Kathy Little and her cousin Joycee.

Since this Saturday is a holiday, there won't be a formal meeting of the Club this week. However, some Members will gather at The Buzz Inn Friday morning starting at 7:30ish for fellowship and food. If you are available, please feel free to join the group. Our regular Friday morning meetings will resume on July 10th.

Thursday, July 2nd is the annual sorting event of our ducks. Meet at Bell Properties office starting at 6:30 pm. Click on the Event to the left of this article to let the organizers know you are coming.

In the meantime Members, continue to sell your Duck Dash tickets. For everyone else reading this, contact one of us for your tickets.

Lastly, have a safe and sane holiday weekend. Please be cognizant of the the extreme fire danger. One errant ember can have devastating consequences.

At this year's Annual Celebration Banquet June 28th, President Gary O'Rielly presented Jim Haugen as Rotarian of the Year. Jim’s leadership position as Secretary of the Club and our Foundation has brought immense rewards and growth to our club since his transfer from the Rotary Club of Everett on October 01, 2011. Besides his other positions, Jim has been co-chairman of the Club’s Wine, Beer and Silent Auction fundraiser that has showed increased monetary rewards to our Club each year which in turn benefits our High School scholarships, contributions to Lil Hungary Hearts, the Lake Stevens Senior Center, Lake Stevens Food Bank and many other community activities. Each year Rotary Clubs worldwide recognize a member of their club for outstanding contribution to the Club and the community as a Rotarian of the Year. Congratulations Jim!
Everyone who attended this year's Installation Banquet had a great time. After the welcome and introductions President Gary gave out several Perfect Attendance Awards including a special award to Loren Hole recognizing him for his 48 years of perfect attendance.

David Johnson then presented some "Fun Awards." President Gary then thanked his 2014-2015 Board and Team presenting each member a special gift from he and his wife, Bev.

Jim Haugen then recognized those members who have given to The Rotary Foundation this year. Three Paul Harris Fellowships were given: Reshal Ploger received one from the Club in recognition for her service to the Club. David Johnson surprised his wife Nancie with a Fellowship and Loren Hole, a six times over Fellowship provider honored his son-in-law Michael Westover with a Fellowship. Loren shared later that he plans on surprising Michael with the Fellowship at a family gathering coming up next weekend.

Next, President Gary honored two members with special recognition. First Reshal Ploger received the Presidential Citation Award for her outstanding work on numerous Club and Community projects.
Next he presented Jim Haugen as Rotarian of the Year (see related article).

After his farewell remarks and incoming President Bill Demeroutis' remarks and new Board introductions, Assistant District Governor Marc Baker formally installed the Club's 2015-2016 Officers and Directors.

Thank you to everyone who participated in this event. And, thank you to the 2014-2015 Board and Officers. It was a great year!

Thought of the Week - Who Said It?
"Primarily Rotary seeks to apply the theory of service to business and community life...This is expressed in the first part of our code of ethics: To consider my vocation worthy and as affording me a distinct opportunity to serve society. He Profits Most Who Serves Best is a less ideal expression, but the suggestion of egoism is removed by the added words Service Above Self."
