Pack 88 Blue & Gold Banquet

Last Saturday evening, our Cub Scout Pack celebrated the birthday of Scouting in America with their annual Blue & Gold Banquet. It was held at Lake Connor Park and everyone had a great time. The Cub Scouts went on a short hike in the woods of the Park which, by the way, used to be a Boy Scout Camp, before returning for dinner and awards. There was a gathering game and a presentation by Eagle Scout Michael Insko. Most of the Scouts were presented with their Cub Scout rank patch which they will proudly wer on their uniform until they earn the next rank. The pasta dinner was followed by a scrumptious cake.

Thank you to all of the parents and leaders that are helping develop the character of these Cub Scouts.
2016 Scholarship Program
The Rotary Club of Lake Stevens is pleased to announce that the 2016 Scholarship Program application is now available for graduating Lake Stevens High School Seniors.

Rotary Club of Lake Stevens Scholarships and the Sam Low Rotary Club of Lake Stevens Scholarship are given each year to graduating Lake Stevens High School seniors who exemplify the qualities of a good citizen and are entering a college, a university, or a professional or technical school.

Rotarians live and work by a guideline known as the Four-Way Test. It is based upon four questions that can be applied to every situation. The Four-Way Test was created in 1932 by Rotarian Herbert J. Taylor (who later served as Rotary International President) when he was asked to take over a company that was facing bankruptcy.

The Four-Way Test of the things we think, say or do:
1. Is it the TRUTH?
2. Is it FAIR to all concerned?
3. Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
4. Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

The world would truly be a better place if everyone applied the Four-Way Test to their daily actions. We hope you will consider utilizing the Four-Way Test as you apply for this scholarship and as you pursue your future goals.

All applications are evaluated using the same weighted criteria and winners are selected based on their total review scores. Lake Stevens Rotary Charitable scholarships are awarded without regard to age, sex, marital status, race, color, creed, religion, national origin, or the presence of any mental, sensory or physical handicap. Interviews are part of the evaluation process. See the application packet for complete details. The packet is available at our website-scroll down to the lower right--as well as in the Career Center of the High School.

The deadline is Friday, April 15, 2016 to the Career Center.

Thought of the Week - Who Said It?
"Primarily Rotary seeks to apply the theory of service to business and community life...This is expressed in the first part of our code of ethics: To consider my vocation worthy and as affording me a distinct opportunity to serve society. He Profits Most Who Serves Best is a less ideal expression, but the suggestion of egoism is removed by the added words Service Above Self."
