The exciting live auction will be Friday evening, 24 September starting at 6 pm. We will be streaming this from Auction Headquarters at the Lake Stevens Senior Center. This week's meeting will include a presentation by Snohomish Regional Fire & Rescue Chief Kevin O'Brien about the Levy Lid Lift that will be voted on by residents in the Fire District's service area at the November General Election. This is a vital time in the Fire Service as agencies have had to cut back on vital resources due to increased costs all the while serving a growing population and answering more calls for service. Up more than 10% over this time last year. Click here for a brief overview of the Levy. Attend our meeting to learn more about the importance of having enough funding for our fire service.
Speaking of meetings, Tuesday is the next Rotarians In Action meeting. If you aren't able to make the Friday morning meetings, then this is gathering for you. Meet at Brian Rewis' Farmers Insurance office, 5:30 to 6:30 pm, 2012 Grade Rd, Ste 203. You can park in the upper lot accessed off of 22nd St NE across the street from the lower lot of the School District Admin Building.
We have been requested to wear masks if you are attending the meetings at the school district's Community Room. You can still attend by joining the meetings via Zoom.

Our guest speaker for Friday, September 17th was Joy Ingram, the Major Donor Collector for Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County. Joy has worked in the non-profit field for the past twenty-five years. Many of those years have been with the DVS organization. She commented that in a conversation with a Chief of Police, that domestic violence in his city was up over 3,000%. Nationally, Covid-19 confinement has caused a terrific rise in domestic violence. Joy is working with the communities to highlight their programs and services as a means of combating and bringing awareness to domestic violence. Four families currently are in residence at the Shelter. They did have to close for a period during the pandemic.
The shelter numbers are up over 24% verse the past year. The mission of their organization is to end domestic violence by providing a wide range of services to victims of domestic violence and facilitating social change. Their numerous programs include a crisis hotline; emergency services; transitional housing; legal advocacy; and advocacy/support groups; children programs as well as domestic/dating violence education. Housing individuals and families is usually up to 30 days but can be extended. Their annual budget comes from a contract work with DHS and funding from providers.

Coin Quest ticket sales at Jay's with Chris and Chris and at Haggen's with Amelia (Auntie), Jak and Chris. Ace, Haggen's and Jay's allowed us to sell tickets in front of their establishments this week as a way of bolstering and increasing our visibility selling tickets and talking about our Rotary Club participating in the community.
Interact is a service club for youth ages 14-18. The name is a combination of the words international and action. We join Clubs in over 120 countries around the world. The global youth network is dedicated to community and international service. Every Interact Club project, great or small, has a lasting impact on society worldwide.

Our regular Rotary Club Meetings are at the Lake Stevens School District Educational Service Center lower level Community Room located at 12309 22nd St NE. We start at 7:30 am.
