The group started applying for Rotary International Foundation Grants in 2019 and was awarded $107,000 from RI. They are assisted by two Rotary Clubs in the area. In February, a grant of $20,500 was provided Days for Girls, which our Club was a participant in the amount of $1,250. The purpose of the grant was to establish hand washing stations which cost about $1,000 each so our contribution bought a hand washing station. A plan was developed to provide young girls with Days for Girls menstrual kits. These young girls were never given proper instructions on how to use products to take care of their menstrual cycle. Days for Girls advances menstrual equity, health, dignity, and the opportunity to transform periods into pathways. Since 2008, Days for Girls has reached more than 2.5 million women and girls in 145 countries with period products and health education to help them have a brighter, more informed life cycle as young women and girls. |
