Port leadership is governed by three elected commissioners serving six year terms. The commission is responsible for hiring an Executive Director/CEO to carry out its policies. The Executive Director/CEO is Lisa Lefeber. The Port District encompasses most of Everett and portions of Mukilteo and Marysville. The Port is an economic development enterprise carrying out the public's trust to manage and develop resources, transportation facilities and supporting infrastructure. The Port balances industry and recreation to create a vibrant community where people can live, work, play and thrive. The Port is a working waterfront that provides a revenue base to invest in a clean recreational waterfront with a diversity of uses. Sixty percent of the jobs in the County are tied to trade. Average annual salary range around $86 K supporting 42,000 jobs. Seaport modernization is a $57 million dollar investment which will be completed by the end of the year. The Port also supports the next generation of ships and cargo and the Boeing Airplane Company's 777X. The Port provides trade support for two employers in the County: the Boeing Company and the U. S. Navy. The cargo snapshot consists of RO/RO; military; breakbulk; bulk; energy and logs. Aerospace logistics supports more than 63,000 jobs in the region. Planned investments include South Terminal Modernization; Terminal Rail Improvements (Completed); Mill A cleanup; Pacific Terminal Wharf Extension and Infrastructure near cleanup location and maritime industrial expansion. The Kimberly Clark Paper Company property acquisition will maintain critical infrastructure in public ownership and a proven track record of leveraging public private dollars to restore the former mill site. Another critical task ahead is the environmental cleanup as a means of restoring a healthy land and water resource. Waterfront Place is a 65 acre mixed use project involving $550 million in public-private investment that will add 2,000+ jobs and generate $8.6 million in tax revenue. Included will be a Pacific Rim plaza along with a splash fountain, a fisherman's harbor esplanade, Central Marina improvements, guest Dock 5 and dock walk, Central K-Dock with 70-foot slips, Central L Dock for commercial fishing and so much more.
