Annual Banquet Entertainment
The three amigos sing the theme to Gillian's Island as part of the hysterical rendition by Kevin O'Brien, Dave Johnson and Ken Collins. Ken's term of office ends on June 30th. It's been a really different Rotary year as most of the meetings were on Zoom until May 21st when we went hybrid. As far as the entertainment goes they needed lots of audience participation. The Annual meeting was both entertaining and welcome as an in-person annual meeting with members and many with their spouses.
Annual Installation Banquet
First there was the story to recapping the year 2020-2021. Well attended Zoom meetings, a highly successful Corks and Kegs fundraiser, rising membership, great programming, exciting community activities such as funds for the Highland Elementary new all-inclusive playground and so much more. The Club awarded $22,000 in scholarships to nine high school seniors and finally our first in-person meeting on May 21st.  Ken put this all in context as he extolled the huge benefits for 2020-2021. Then, came the exchange of the gavel and new leadership as Reshal Ploeger becomes the new Club President on July 1st!
Awards for 2020-2021
President Ken Collins announced that this year's Rotarian of the Year is Ilene Levering. As chairperson of the Community Services Committee, her inspirational messages before each meeting and for her outstanding work on projects and other activities for the Rotary Club of Lake Stevens for 2020-2021. Congratulations Ilene!

Other awards winners for 2020-2021 announced by President Ken are:
  • Rising Star of the Year" Don Iverson
  • Four Way Test Award: Chris Vallo
  • Spirit of Service Awards: Sam Samano and Amelia Mimura
  • Distinguished Service Awards: Lance Morehouse and Kristin Odeggar
  • Viking of the Year Award for Leadership: Jim Haugen
  • And, Kristin Odegaard received a Paul Harris Award

The awards ceremony was proceeded by the Exchange of the Gavel and leadership transferring to Reshal Ploeger. New Officers and Directors for 2021-2022 were sworn in by Assistant District Governor for Area J, Duane Rhodes.

The Annual Installation Banquet caps off of year on Zoom returning to hybrid meetings on May 21st and an in-person banquet. Last year's annual installation banquet was held via Zoom. Although everyone endured Covid 19, our Club flourished under unusual circumstances, increasing our membership numbers, an outstanding Corks and Kegs Live and On-line auction fundraiser and numerous projects. Our Interact Club responded as well receiving many awards under the leadership of Advisor Kristin Odegaard.
Happy and Safe 4th of July
