Thank you to the community for supporting Corks, Kegs & Coins last week. All of the proceeds will go to support the community locally, regionally and internationally. A huge thank you to the organizing committee and day-of event volunteers for pulling off a great event. Over 100 people had a great time tasting a variety of wines and beers as well as bidding on numerous items in the silent and live auctions. The Mill is a great venue and we recommend it for various types of events.

This week's meeting will feature Keith Futhey, a Travel Training Graduate of Community Transit, the Snohomish County public bus transportation agency. Travel Training fosters independance for people with special needs. Click this to read more about Kevin and the program.

Corks, Kegs and Coin Quest-Best Ever

Thank you, Lake Stevens, for generously supporting our Corks, Kegs & Coin Quest at our first in-person event in two years. As it turns out, it was the biggest fundraiser ever for this annual event. Our Silent and Live Auction raised a lot of money for our Club's activities that will go back into the community such as high school scholarships, park and road clean up and so many more projects. We were absolutely blown away by the generosity to our Lake Stevens Food Bank "Fund a Cause" raising over $15,350.

Mari's Place for the Arts

Welcome back Mary Toews, a former member of our Club and the Executive Director/Founder of Mari's Place for the Arts was last week's program along with Joe Marine, Board President, and Mayor of Mukilteo as well as a Rotarian.

Mari's Place for the Arts provides local youth with the opportunity to explore their creative side through art and cultural enrichment classes. Each class is designed to draw out the young artists' natural curiosity and encourage them to explore, share collaborate with others.

The courses last 12 weeks and are limited to twenty students from ages 3-17 with all efforts directed at involving them in the arts. The student impact is listed above. Compass Health is a major partner. The goal of Mari's Place is to partner with private schools as well. Currently, the Lake Stevens Senior Center is a partner with classes just beginning two weeks ago. Mary has 44 children on the wait list. Only recently, through aggressive funding and partnerships, has Mary been able to be paid for her work. Mari's Place was founded in 2010-2011. A scholarship program has been established as well as the cost per student.

Mary has developed a program worthy of any organization's support.
