Stories
At this week's meeting we will hear a State of the City Report from the Honorable Vern Little, Mayor of the City of Lake Stevens. Mayor Little has been the mayor since November 2007. Prior to that he was a member of City Council for three years. Come and find out what is happening in your City. Invite your neighbors and business associates.

Contest: New contest coming soon!
At our regular meeting February 13, 2015, the students that our Club sponsored at the recent District 5050 YAIL conference gave us a report on their experiences. Hayden Ploeger--son of member Reshal Ploeger, Sunilove MacBride and Gavin Hobbs--son of member Steve Hobbs, all shared about their time at the Conference. YAIL- Youth Adventures In Leadership gives insights into some of the basics of what it means, and takes, to be a leader: to create a well rounded individual with increased perspective and enthusiasm for growth, who is able to make informed decisions. Our Club is proud of supporting our local youth. Just imagine what these three will accomplish.
Our Cub Scout Pack will be holding its annual Scouting Celebration--the Blue & Gold Banquet--on Saturday, February 21st at the Lake Stevens Fire Department Conference Center. The Banquet not only celebrates the individual achievements of the Cub Scouts--many of whom have earned their Cub Scout rank for this program year--but, also celebrates Scouting in America. The Boys Scouts of America celebrates its 105 Anniversary on February 8th. This year's anniversary happens to fall on Scout Sunday. Scouts that have earned their Religious Emblems awards often have them presented on Scout Sunday at their own places of worship.

The Banquet is a great opportunity for Rotarians to meet the Scouts and thank the volunteer Leaders for their service to the youth of our Cub Scout Pack. We are looking for some members to join James Monroe, our Chartered Organization Representative, at the Banquet. Please let James know if you are able to join him that evening.
The Lake Stevens Rotary Club is pleased to announce that the 2015 Rotary Club Scholarships are now being accepted. The applicants must be Seniors at Lake Stevens High School or a member of the Lake Stevens School District Home Link program. The application form is available at the Club website as well as via this link. Questions can be directed to Scholarship Committee Chairman James Monroe.
Members are being asked to sign up for the various tasks that need to be handled for our fundraiser to be successful. Many of you have already taken on some of the tasks. Thought of the Week - Who Said It?

"All of us grew up in particular realities - a home, family, a clan, a small town, a neighborhood. Depending on how we're brought up, we are either deeply aware of the particular reading of reality into which we are born, or we are peripherally aware of it."
