Our featured speaker this week is David Agee of the BNSF who will talk about the Operation Lifesaver program. Operation Lifesaver is an outreach program designed to teach people about the dangers of being around railroad tracks and trains. This program is part of our Safe Driving series that we started in August.
Contest: Be the first person to identify the location from where the banner photo above was taken by 7:30 am, December 12th. We received a couple of entries last week, unfortunately, they are not correct. Keep trying! Send an email to Editor James Monroe.
Members are invited to attend our next Rotary Club of Lake Stevens Fireside. This is an opportunity to get to know other members and guests in a relaxed atmosphere. There often isn't time to do this at our regular weekly meetings. Now you have a chance to do that! The DeLorm's have graciously opened up their home and welcome all members, prospective members, guests and their significant others. So that they can be prepared, I ask that you register online at the Fireside event listed under the Events section to the left of this article. Please do that now, so you don't forget. Friday evening, December 19th. See you there!
At our meeting December 5th, our own Debe Franz shared her experiences of her trip to Bali earlier this year. She helped out with My Father's Home, an orphanage in Bali. Thank you Debe.
Current Federal Railroad Association (FRA) data shows that highway-rail grade crossing collisions and pedestrian trespass on tracks account for over 95% of all railroad fatalities.
