Tuskegee Airmen

There is a lot of information on the famed Tuskegee Airmen. These famed  airmen served in World War II as a dedicated and determined group of young men who volunteered to become America's first African-American military airmen. From all over the United States they came but primarily from New York City, Washington, Los Angeles, Philadelphia and Detroit to TuskegeeUniversity to be trained as pilots.  Each one possessed a strong personal desire to serve the United States of America as the best of the best with his abilities.

 

These young men were intelligent, skilled and possessed courage and patriotism. No standards were ever lowered for these pilots or any of the other positions in operations, including meteorology, intelligence, engineering, medicine, or ground support. From 1941-1946, nine hundred and ninety-four pilots graduated at TAAF, receiving commissions and pilot wings. The outstanding record of black airmen in World War II was accomplished by men whose names will live forever in our history.
