The Rotary Foundation

At our meeting November 4th, South Everett-Mukilteo Rotarian Mark Kendziorek gave a presentation about The Rotary Foundation. He reviewed the history of the Foundation, its purpose and the impact that the Foundation has had world-wide. He highlighted a project in the Phillippines that provided a solar energy system that powers a small school. An unintended result is that the students bring rechargable lanterns to the school so that they can continue their studies at night. Scores have skyrocketed for those students. Kids also bring their cell phones to charge.

Mark reinforced the Every Rotarian Every Year program. This is where every Rotarian contributes something to the Foundation every year. There are different ways to do this and members can be specific about what projects the donations are given for. His presentation was a great way to kick off Foundation month in Rotary.
